About the eManifest Program
If you’re a truck driver that makes frequent to Canada, you need to get familiar with Canada’s new border rules.
Starting Thursday November 1,2012, the United States of America’s truck drivers that haul low-risk cargo into Canada must register and submit an eManifest an hour or more prior to arriving at Canada’s border.
If truck drivers do not register and submit to an eManifest, they cannot enter Canada.
What is the eManifest? It’s an electronic document that provides information on the shipper, cosignee address, delivery name, delivery address, cargo description, package type, gross weight, and customs data.
To register for the eManifest program, truck drivers need to visit the Canada Border Services Agency ( CBSA) website at www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/ .
After registration, the eManifest has to be electronically sent through Electronic Data Interchange or a web based portal from the CBSA website.
Truck drivers can only use the portal if they obtain a portal business account from CBSA and enter a carrier code.
