Lower Fuel Prices
With fuel prices hitting many drivers right in the wallet this summer season, a recent drop is sure to bring relief across most of the nation. As of August 19th, the average fuel price is currently $3.835. This makes the national average price about 6.5 cents lower than it was around this time last year. For those who rely on fuel for their business, especially trucking companies and fleets, now is a great time to educate your drivers on the price of fuel in the nation.
Here are some areas that are seeing fuel price decreases:
- Central Atlantic: 1.4 cent decrease
- Lower Atlantic: 1.2 cent decrease
- East Coast: 1.2 cent decrease
- Gulf Coast: 1.1 cent decrease
Unfortunately, California saw a .2 of a cent increase in price of diesel fuel.
As of August 19th, 2014, the average costs of diesel in some of the US regions are as follows:
- West Coast: $4.015
- Gulf Coast: $3.739
- Midwest: $3.78
While many of these prices bring relief, it is important for drivers to keep in mind that prices vary from state to state. Do your homework before fueling up this summer to find the best prices in your area. One way to get the most of your lower priced fuel is to maintain your truck fleet for improved fuel efficiency. Proper truck maintenance will ensure that your fuel goes farther, which is better for your budget.
