New Year’s Maintenance Resolutions for Your Commercial Truck Fleet
It’s the start of the year, and chances are that you’ve already made some resolutions to make this year even better than the last—exercising more, spending more time with family, or finally organizing all of the clutter in your cab. Beyond resolutions like those, consider making some New Year’s maintenance resolutions for your commercial truck fleet.
Secure Your Equipment
It can sound pretty easy and simple to do, but making sure that your commercial truck fleet equipment is properly secured can be surprisingly tricky depending on your location. A whopping 82% of cargo theft incidents occurred as a result of unsecured parking areas. Think of a secure parking area in the same way that you think of locking the door to your home or keeping your money in a bank—a little bit of protection goes a long way.
Retread Your Commercial Truck Fleet
Retreading is something that costs a bit of money but can also save you a huge amount of money in the long run. This New Year’s maintenance resolution can save you between two and four thousand dollars per truck. That money would look a whole lot better sitting in your bank account or re-invested in your commercial truck fleet than sitting in a landfill somewhere! Beyond the practical cost savings, retreading is also better for the environment, as tons and tons of tires are dumped in landfills every year.
Get Properly Aligned
If you aren’t already doing so, start getting a professional alignment done at least once a year. If you drive on poor quality roads or have drivers on the reckless side, getting this done two times a year might be more appropriate. A professional alignment for every truck in your commercial fleet will increase your fuel mileage, even out the wear on your ties, and help to give all of your driver’s rides with fewer bumps along the way.
